flynnhq.com (“Flynn”, “we”, “us”) is operated by Ion Alpha. This page explains
what personal data we collect when you subscribe to our email updates, why we
collect it, and the rights you have over it. We keep it short and in plain
language on purpose.
We collect the minimum needed to send you the emails you ask for. Nothing more.
What we collect
When you submit the subscribe form, we store:
- Your email address, used to send you the updates you signed up for.
- Your name, only if you choose to give it (the form does not require it).
- Consent record: the date and time you subscribed, your IP address, and your
browser’s user-agent string at that moment, plus the exact wording of the consent
you agreed to. This is kept as proof that you opted in, as required by law.
That is the entire list. This is a static site: we do not use cookies,
analytics, advertising trackers, or any third-party scripts that profile you.
Why we can use it (legal basis)
We process your data on the basis of your consent, the box you ticked when
subscribing. You can withdraw that consent at any time (see Your rights below),
and doing so does not affect anything we did before you withdrew it.
How we use it
Only to send you the email updates you subscribed to: writing about Flynn, agent
security, and related work. We do not sell, rent, or trade your data, and we do
not use it for anything you did not sign up for.
To actually deliver those emails, we use a reputable third-party email delivery
provider, which processes your address solely on our instructions in order to send
our messages.
Where it is stored and how it is protected
We go well beyond the baseline. The moment you submit the form, your email address
is sealed with public-key encryption, so the server that receives it stores only
ciphertext it cannot read back. Data is held encrypted at rest on servers in the
European Union, addresses are masked by default even to our own tools, and
are decrypted only to send you an email you asked for. Access is tightly restricted
to the people who operate the list.
How long we keep it
We keep your details for as long as you are subscribed. When you unsubscribe, we
delete your email address from the active list. We may retain the minimal consent
record only where we are legally required to.
Your rights
You can, at any time:
- Unsubscribe: every email includes a one-click unsubscribe link.
- Access the data we hold about you.
- Correct it if it is wrong.
- Erase it (be forgotten).
- Withdraw consent or object to our use of it.
- Port your data to another service.
To exercise any of these, email contact@ionalpha.io and we will action it. If you
are in the EU or UK and are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you also
have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date and version at the top of this
page. Material changes that affect how we use your data will be communicated to
subscribers by email.
